Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a significant public health burden in India. Focus on and its complications important to prevent mortality morbidity due this disease. Lack of awareness one the main barrier for detection DM complications. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) most common complication which causes blindness visual impairment. The purpose study was assess knowledge attitude diabetic patients towards eye care DR urban south Indian population. Cross-sectional done 537 with Type 2 Mellitus. All underwent complete ocular examination including acuity, anterior segment fundus using slit-lamp biomicroscope by attending Ophthalmologist. They were administered questionnaire test their attitude. Their answers documented. Statistical analysis SPSS software (IBM). Out (50.9%) knew that there relationship between Retinopathy while (49.1%) not aware of. 60.4% opinion no need regular screening if vision both eyes are good 39.6% they should undergo routine ophthalmology every year despite eyes. 69.6% said control might DR. level found be significantly associated patients’ educational (p=0.038). Patients relatively higher more occurring as consequence diabetes. longer duration had (p=0.001). In our an association qualification regarding retinopathy. (p value=0.04).
